Christ's Kids Ministry

At Christ UMC we have an active Children's Ministry we call Christ's Kids.  Christ's Kids programming is geared towards ages birth - 6th grade.  Older kids then fall under our Youth Ministry.  All of our volunteers that work with the children have clearances and meet all of our Safe Sanctuary standards.

In order to participate in any of our children's activities, we ask that you register your child annually.  Here is the online 2023-24 Christ's Kids Registration.  If you can't register online, there are also paper forms available at the church to use when you attend an event.

For any questions about our Children's Ministry please contact Pastor Tawny Bernhardt at tawny.bernhardt@cumclansdale.org.

  • Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt

    March 24th, 1-4 PM

You are invited to hop, hop, hop on over for our Eggstravangaza event on March 24th! Small egg hunts will run from 1-4 PM. Kids will get a chance to hunt for eggs and participate in some other awesome egg relays and a craft around the church lawn.

This is a family-friendly FREE event for kids of every age with an egg hunt, meaningful craft, and fun-filled activities. Bring your basket and a few friends! The EGGstravangaza is especially great for children who are overwhelmed by the large crowds at traditional egg hunts. There is NO Easter Bunny at this event. Every child will get to collect eggs. We anticipate that all this fun will take about 30 minutes.

Adults are asked to stay and cheer on their children! Registration is required. Sign up here.

  • Good Friday Event

This event is open for all children 4 years-6th grade, and children are separated into age groups for parts of the event. Sign up here.

  • Camp Firelight Vacation Bible Camp

    July 15-19th

    two sessions available

Join us for Vacation Bible Camp!! This year our theme is Camp Firelight!

Camp Firelight VBC is based on Psalm 56:3: “Whenever I’m afraid, I put my trust in you.” This verse reminds us that we can trust God no matter what challenges we face in life. Camp Firelight invites us to put our trust in God in every situation, including during times when we might be afraid. Kids will participate in awesome games, unique crafts, fun science experiments, and Bible story time.

Camp Firelight will run from July 15-19th. It is open for kids 4 years old by September 1st, 2024 through fifth grade. (Sixth graders and older can serve as volunteers). VBC is FREE, and you will want to register quickly so that it doesn’t fill up! There are two sessions to choose from: our morning session will run from 9-Noon and our evening session will run from 6-8:30 PM. Dinner is provided for the evening session.

We are always looking for volunteers! If you are interested in serving, even for a day that week, please let Pastor Tawny know.

Check out the website to register and listen to the some of the music soundbites!

  • Nursery

Christ UMC offers two nurseries.  A staffed nursery is available so that parents can attend worship at 8:30 and 11 AM and Sunday school at 9:45 AM. Children, birth through 4 years old, can be dropped off and picked up as needed throughout the morning. An age appropriate lesson and activity will be taught during the Sunday School hour. All volunteers have appropriate clearances.

An unstaffed nursery is available in Room 120, across from the cafe. A speaker is available for families to listen to the service while utilizing the glider and quiet space. Adults must supervise their children while in this space.

  • Sunday School

Sunday School classes meet each Sunday from 9:45 to 10:45.

This year our Pre-K through 6th Grade kids will be using the Celebrate Wonder curriculum to study the Bible. You can register your child online or at drop off. Children have the opportunity to participate in a Christmas pageant in December, if they are interested. Classes are broken down by grade level.

  • Children's Worship

During the 11 am service each Sunday, children age 4 through 5th grades are dismissed from the Sanctuary prior to the sermon for Children's Worship.  It is a time for our younger congregants to hear God's Word in ways that they can connect to their lives.  They will engage in worship through passing the peace, receiving an offering, hearing a children's sermon, and praying together. Parents pick their children up after the service is over. On the first Sunday of the month, children return to the sanctuary to sit with their families for communion.

  • Kids' Choirs

There are many opportunities for you child to be involved in a choir.
